Making noise in Manchester
Downing Living tasked us with building and growing the organic social presence for Square Gardens, a new luxury apartment development in Manchester designed for young professionals.
Our goal? To position Square Gardens as one of the city’s most desirable places to live, with bold, scroll-stopping content across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
Our objectives were to build social media accounts from the ground up, grow a thriving community of followers, create and execute impactful social media campaigns, engage and attract young professionals, and partner with local businesses to reinforce Square Gardens as a desirable place to live.
Our approach focused on consistently sharing content aligned with key pillars: Manchester lifestyle, resident UGC-style posts and content showcasing the amenities and life inside Square Gardens.
As a Manchester-based team and agency, we have in-depth knowledge of the best places to go in the city, including walks, bars and restaurants. This gave us the insight to position Manchester as the ultimate destination for young professionals.
We also leaned into trends, especially TikTok, as this is the best way to create trending content and to engage with the targeted audience. By staying on top of trending content and highlighting the impressive features of Square Gardens, we directly supported our goal of positioning Square Gardens as the ideal living space for young professionals.

In just over a year, from May 2024 to June 2025, we grew Square Gardens’ social media presence organically from scratch.
We also introduced strategic collaborations with local businesses to amplify Square Gardens’ presence. These partnerships included exciting giveaways to encourage engagement and expand our reach.
We collaborated with the likes of Urban Reform, a hyrox-focused training gym in Manchester, for the chance to win a month’s worth of free hyrox training classes, Face Gym in The Trafford Centre to win a free FaceGym facial, Food Sourcey to win a free cooking class for two, and Gino De’Campos to win a free afternoon tea for two. This encouraged participants to follow both the Square Gardens and businesses’ Instagram for a chance to win, boosting engagement and follower count.
We also collaborated with bakeries such as Half Dozen Other and a Flat Baker, which encouraged residents to take pictures and post online to encourage the following.
In just over a year, the Square Gardens Instagram account gained 1,515 followers and achieved a reach of 660.7K, alongside 75.5K profile visits and 55.4K link clicks. Content also generated 3.7K interactions, demonstrating strong engagement with Square Gardens and its lifestyle-led content.
By keeping on top of trends and posting consistently, TikTok also delivered significant reach and engagement. Content generated 524.1K video views and reached 458.5K users, with 3,826 profile views, 4,184 engagements and 170 followers gained. The highest-trending post alone achieved 69.8K views.
