The Big Idea

Generate excitement for the launch of a new hospital at the heart of Manchester

Private healthcare specialist, Spire Manchester, was set to move to a brand new £65m hospital in Didsbury and came to us for PR support, with the aim of building awareness in the two years leading up to the launch.

We would communicate the quality of the new state-of-the-art facilities, and the wide range of services that the new hospital would offer, as well as promoting the existing hospital and Spire Manchester brand.

Approach

What we did…

Rumpus developed a two-pronged PR campaign to maintain momentum while the hospital was being built.

  • Organised milestone events, such as ground-breaking and topping out ceremonies, accompanied by press tours
  • Developed and implemented a CSR programme to engage with the local community throughout the build
  • Worked with corporate partners to deliver a regular stream of news
  • Produced quality photography and video content
  • Provided expert commentary from Spire Manchester consultants to national press
  • Created and placed patient case studies in national media

Key results include:

  • Achieved 81 pieces of coverage, including 14 pieces for the launch announcement
  • Secured 10 consultant comments in national consumer titles
  • Organised two successful events, attended by key stakeholders, local schools and politicians
  • Managed and delivered two community engagement projects involving local schools, building positive local relations
