Manchester Cleaning Show

Thechallenge.

When Quartz Business Media approached us, the team needed support raising the profile of the 2026 Manchester Cleaning Show among two key audiences: potential exhibitors and industry visitors.

The show already had a strong reputation within the cleaning and hygiene sector, but to maximise attendance and commercial success, it needed consistent visibility in the right trade publications. The objective was not just awareness, but to position the event as a must-attend industry gathering that reflects both the history and future of the cleaning and hygiene sector.

Our role was to deliver a targeted PR and media relations strategy capable of driving interest from exhibitors in the early stages of the campaign, before shifting focus to encourage strong visitor attendance closer to the event.

Insightand strategy.

We developed a phased communications approach designed to support the show across its full promotional cycle.

The strategy recognised that the motivations of exhibitors and visitors differ significantly. Early communications needed to demonstrate the commercial opportunity of participating in the show, while later messaging would focus on why industry professionals should attend.

To achieve this, we structured activity across two core phases: exhibitor promotion and visitor promotion, supported by a steady flow of media engagement in key trade titles.

To build consistent momentum for the Manchester Cleaning Show, we developed a structured media programme designed to keep the event visible across the cleaning and hygiene sector throughout the campaign period.

We began with a launch release announcing the show, followed by a speaker programme announcement shared with key industry media to highlight the expertise and insight attendees could expect from the event.

Alongside this, we developed a feature exploring the local heroes and the history of the cleaning industry in Manchester, connecting the show to the city’s long-standing role in the sector and creating a strong regional narrative.

To drive visitor interest, we secured coverage across a range of relevant sectors, ensuring the show appeared in front of audiences working in facilities management, healthcare, public services and commercial cleaning.

We also developed a series of exhibitor features, highlighting the businesses attending the show and exploring why they viewed the Manchester Cleaning Show as an important platform for the industry.

This combination of announcements, industry storytelling and exhibitor insight created a consistent drumbeat of coverage that kept the event visible across the industry throughout the campaign.

As the event approached, we also prepared on-the-day media support, facilitating interviews between journalists and key spokespeople attending the show to maximise live coverage opportunities.

Throughout the campaign, activity was managed through weekly WIP meetings and regular reporting to ensure the strategy evolved alongside the show’s commercial priorities.

Measurableimpact.

The campaign significantly exceeded the original targets set out in the strategy.

Our activity delivered 32 pieces of media coverage across key trade titles in the cleaning and hygiene sector, surpassing the original coverage target.

The increased visibility helped build strong momentum around the event, contributing to over 80 exhibitors signing up to participate and attracting more than 2,000 attendees.

By maintaining consistent visibility in the media that matters most to the sector, the campaign helped reinforce the Manchester Cleaning Show’s position as one of the industry’s key gatherings and supported its wider commercial success.
