Starting Rumpus.

Starting Rumpus.

Rumpus was founded in 2004 with the belief that good work starts with good relationships, and that idea still guides us today. We take the time to understand everyone we work with, from businesses to journalists, becoming a trusted partner rather than an external supplier. The communications landscape has changed dramatically over the past two decades, but our focus on thoughtful communications and meaningful results hasn’t.

Ourpurpose.

Ourpurpose.

If it doesn’t stand up, we don’t put our name to it.

Communications shape reputations, industries and actions, so we take that influence seriously. We work with organisations committed to doing things properly, challenging claims that don’t stand up to scrutiny and helping them communicate with honesty and evidence.

Our aim is to help organisations earn the right to be believed. Narrative Architecture is how we do it, giving us a clear way to build communications around what an organisation genuinely stands for and can prove.

Because better communication should lead to better business.

OurB Corp journey.

We became a B Corp because doing the right thing shouldn’t be optional. For us, it’s not a badge but a mindset that shapes how we run Rumpus and the decisions we make.

Our journey began after the Manchester Arena tragedy in 2017, when we lost our close friend and colleague, Martyn. It made us rethink what mattered to us as a business and led us to the B Corp movement and its belief in using business as a force for good.

Our B Corp mission began in 2020. In 2022, with support from a local B Corp consultant and the whole Rumpus team, we worked through the assessment and officially became a certified B Corporation on Friday 2 June.

Today, B Corp gives us a framework to keep improving, stay accountable and make sure the way we do business reflects what matters to us.

How our B Corp status impacts our clients and work.

Since certifying in 2023, we’ve embedded B Corp principles into everything we do – our office practices, the clients we choose, the stakeholders we work with, our community and volunteer work and how we treat each other.

It’s more than a certification, it’s a long-term commitment to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, and to balancing profit with purpose in a way that genuinely benefits people and planet.

It challenges us to keep improving, keep questioning, and keep using our work as a force for good.
